ECarSecurity.com (aka Car Security Professionals Inc.) has determined the most costly often vandalized possession you own is your vehicle. Millions of vehicles a day are left somewhere while you are working, vacationing, sleeping, visiting, eating etc… At no point should you leave your car unprotected without a car alarm or security system.

As times continue to get tougher, cars become targeted for vandalism on an hourly basis. In some areas there is no way you can leave your car parked without a car security system installed. Every car that seems easier to vandalize will always get vandalized before a security enforced vehicle. Chances are your car you will be vandalized at least twice in your lifetime. Wether its breaking the window to steal something or trying to steal the vehicle itself, do not leave your car unprotected!

You paid for your vehicle, yet you are leaving it somewhere unprotected, doesn’t make much sense if you think about it. Now is the time to secure your possession just like you would your house and other items you own. Your car is left the most vulnerable at the most times!

Computerworld – People were doing a whole lot more online searching last month, and they were still largely using the Google engine to do it.

“A comScore, Inc. study released late last week showed that 46% more online searches were made worldwide last month than in December, 2008. In all, the Web tracking firm said, people 15 and older conducted 131 billion searches just in December, or an average of 4 billion searches a day, 175 million per hour, and 29 million per minute.

“The global search market continues to grow at an extraordinary rate, with both highly developed and emerging markets contributing to the strong growth worldwide,” said Jack Flanagan, comScore executive vice president, in a statement. “Search is clearly becoming a more ubiquitous behavior among Internet users that drives navigation not only directly from search engines but also within sites and across networks.”

ComScore also noted that the online users in the United States conduct more searches than people anywhere else in the world. Americans accounted for 22.7 billion searches, or approximately 17% of all worldwide searches, last month.

“Forty-six percent year-to-year growth in search is certainly a big number, but not a shockingly big number,” said Dan Olds, an analyst with Gabriel Consulting Group. “We know that search is the most heavily used Web mechanism and, with people conducting more and more of their personal business on the Web, it’s natural that Web search is growing at a high rate. Factor in the search growth in countries where consumers are just now getting wide access to both computing and broadband, and it’s easier to see how search grew at a nearly 50% clip from 2008 to 2009.”

Search giant Google lived up to its reputation in 2009, accounting for 66.8%, or 87.8 billion, of all searches last month, according to comScore. Of the 131 billion searches conducted last month, 87.8 billion of them were done on Google’s site. The Web tracker also noted that Google sites achieved a 58% increase in search query volume over the past year.”

In 2008 the value of stolen motor vehicles was $6.4 billion.

The dollar size of claims has been going up, reflecting the higher value of new cars on the road, the value of the cars that are targets for theft or are damaged and the cost of vehicle bodywork.

Nationally, more than 75,000 airbags are stolen every year.

Thefts By City: According to an NICB study released in April 2009, the Modesto, California, Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) had the highest rate per capita for vehicle thefts in the nation in 2008. Six of the top 10 U.S. MSAs for vehicle theft in 2008 were in California.

Component Theft: More than 75,000 air bags are stolen every year, according to estimates by the Insurance Information Institute. NICB says that air bag theft costs insurers and vehicle owners more than $50 million a year. New air bags cost about $1,000 from a car dealer; on the black market the cost is between $50 and $200. To thwart thieves, steering wheel covers used with a steel bar steering wheel lock are available. New York combats air bag theft by requiring accident reports to note air bag deployment, and specifies procedures for auto repair shops to follow when replacing stolen or deployed air bags. Xenon headlights and global positioning systems (GPS) are also popular with thieves. By mid-2008, insurers and the NICB had observed a growing nationwide trend in the theft of catalytic converters. These components contain small amounts of platinum and palladium, precious metals whose value has risen with the use of catalytic converters and the growth in popularity of platinum jewelery.

Our very own forum has finally launched. We have thought for many months what additions would make our site more useful, we then added a new wiring diagram page, a blog and now a forum. With this new addition users can discuss car security, car alarms, remote starters, keyles entry units and more with each other. We will also be on the forums participating in these discussions. The forum can be found at forum.ecarsecurity.com, we hope this will somehow prove useful to our customers and anyone that is surfing the web. As time passes we hope to establish new goals with our website, one of which is having an active forum.
